Beekeeping is not a side activity at Fundo La Pampita. It is one of the central activities the Schwenkegaray family carries out in Aysén, and over time it also became something we wanted to share. In the Aysén Region, bees play a role that goes far beyond honey: they are essential pollinators in a territory where native biodiversity still carries real weight. Training other families in hive management was a natural decision; we started in La Junta.

The courses run just a few days. Hands-on work, in the field, with real hives. The atmosphere is the usual Patagonian one — direct, no frills, with the seriousness that belongs to a trade that depends on observation and consistency. Over several years and with different groups, around ten people went through these training sessions in La Junta. Each arrived with different questions and left with something concrete: the knowledge to install and manage their own hives.

Today, those ten people — and the family groups around them — work with their own hives around La Junta. More bees in the territory, more pollination in native pastures and forests, and families with income that comes directly from what they produce and care for. Bees don't recognize property lines: when a hive thrives, the surrounding ecosystem benefits over a wide radius.
